“Chorus for Solo Voice”

The Chorus was eternal.

My previous two Empyrean stories (“The Poison Gardener” and “The Final Voyage of the Ouranos) being not what you’d call cheerful, I’m glad to bring to that setting a story that . . . well, okay, it isn’t cheerful, but it’s certainly more uplifting than those two!

And, like them, it has been published in by Sunday Morning Transport, in August 2026! If you would like musical accompaniment, my “soundtrack” for this one was an album called Lost Voices of Hagia Sophia, in which a choir singing Byzantine church music had their voices run through a filter meant to replicate the acoustic conditions of the Hagia Sophia back when it was a Eastern Orthodox Church.
