a few fictive things

First, I’ve been given the go-ahead to announce the sale of my novelette “La Molejera” to Paraspheres 2. Yay!

Second, I neglected to mention the other week that Newton Compton will be publishing Warror and Witch in Italian. Also yay!

Third, and unrelated to my own writing, Janni Lee Simner is running a really cool contest for her upcoming book Thief Eyes, based on the Icelandic Njal’s Saga. I thought it was nifty enough to demand a signal boost. 🙂 Janni read part of this at World Fantasy, and it sounds like it will be a great book.

Oh yes, and I’m reminded of Mike Carey’s comment about going from writing comics to writing novels being like a whole extra dimension of freedom because he could fix something in chapter 3 when he realised it while writing chapter 15.

*remembers various inconsistencies in Lucifer, wonders how much that was his not paying attention vs. going “I had a better idea, f-ck you if you were paying attention and expecting consistency”*

One nitpick: there isn’t need for rape in the Night’s Watch because the men there have other sexual outlets — the castle of the Watch that we see has a nearby village with a brothel, and presumably their other bases have similar arrangements.
