Just a quick heads-up, for those of you who like this kind of thing: Not Prime Time, a fanfic exchange for medium-sized fandoms, is open for nominations until Friday. The exchange itself will give you about two months to write, starting around the end of April.

(Medium-sized fandom: too big for Yuletide, too small to be ENORMOUS.)

The timing of this coincides nicely with my revision, which is to say, I’ll be sending that off next Monday and then looking to kick back with something fluffy for a little while. So yes, I intend to participate.

    Not thick at all; it’s actually a bit complicated. Full NPT FAQ is here, but I’ll give a condensed version, too.

    Nominations are optional — you can be in the exchange without participating in this stage. This does, however, determine which fandoms and characters will be eligible for requests, so if there’s something you know you want to ask for (that isn’t already in the tag set), you’ll want to nominate them, just to be sure. The form is here, and the step-by-step instructions for it are here.

    After they close and clean up the nominations, then there will be a new form, in which you list both your requests and your offers, selected from the nominated tag set. In NPT, as in Yuletide, you have to request 3-4 fandoms, and offer 3-10. (This is apparently an optimal scale for the auto-matching to work.) Within each fandom, you can request/offer 1-4 characters, or say “any” — which means any of the nominated characters, not any character from that fandom. (There is always somebody who doesn’t understand this, checks “any,” and then asks for a story about a character who wasn’t nominated.)

    You can also provide optional details about what you like/don’t like/would love to see. These are non-binding, but a lot of people (myself included) are grateful for them, as it gives us a direction to go in. 🙂

    Does that make sense? I’ve never done an exchange on LJ/DW, so I don’t actually know how much of this is different. Let me know if anything isn’t clear.
