a glimpse inside my mind

So I’m watching the last Harry Potter movie — don’t worry; no spoilers — and at one point there’s a shot which completely distracts me from the movie. This has happened before with the films.

But as I leaned over and said to my husband a moment later: this time I was distracted by contemplating dragon anatomy, and not by trying to ID the slice of London flying by in the background.

Ladies and gentlemen, the new series has clearly moved in and set up house.

Dragon anatomy is such a fun topic! Reminds me of a zoologist acquaintance of mine who does cryptozoology on the side. Heard him at a con once, speaking about the (lack of) realism in dragons on film – he pointed out things like how one dragon couldn’t possibly be expected to fly with that wing joint configuration and so on 🙂

Hmmmm . . . I’m tempted to ask for your zoologist acquaintance’s e-mail. 🙂 But subtleties like wing joint configuration won’t be in my hands, anyway; that’s up to the artist for the series.

I’d be happy to ask him if he minds me giving you his e-mail, should you want to.

Will the artist be doing anything more than the cover? Hope you’re happy with the artist – I’m reading Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff’s blog over at the Book View Café these days, which is inspired by the tune “There’s a Bimbo on the Cover of my Book” – it’s both hilarious and sad to see collected so many examples how absolutely wrong book covers can be…

There will be interior art, too. But I don’t want to push the artist around too much, so I’ll probably pass on your zoologist friend, unless I end up with a specific question.

Everyone has remarked on the awesomeness of the dragon(s?) in that movie.

The dragon… sure was pretty. I love them long and lean 😀
