I’m curious, assuming you’re reading in translation, which translation you’re reading: I’ve read the Keneally and am thinking about reading the new Carson. . .
Not so much “reading” as “mining for certain bits,” so I’m using the translation on my shelf — which is the same one I read for a heavy-duty class on early Irish Literature in college. Ergo, I do not recommend Cecile O’Rahilly’s rescension to anybody. <g> (It’s written for scholars, not casual readers.)
Why the Táin?
Not a question I want to answer in public — but since I’ve thoroughly spoiled this book for you anyway, ask me in private and I’ll tell you.
