If you were one of the people who hated the trailer for The Dark Is Rising, I invite you to clean your palate as I did, by re-reading the book. (It’s this month’s recommendation.)

A darn fine book. Good recommendation. I’m feeling the need to go buy all of the books and read them through.

We quit going to movies in the theater at least 4 years ago (maybe more) because my s.o. could no longer stand the audiences, so haven’t seen the trailer, but you really summed up what I most liked about that book and the series (and like you, I read The Dark is Rising first, and it was always my favorite, though I also loved The Grey King; the rest were good but just didn’t work nearly as well for me).
I saw the trailer online, actually; I don’t know if it’s in theatres yet.
The Grey King is my favorite, personally. The Dark Is Rising probably comes second.
