release date (or at least month)

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but word on the street (i.e. a phone call with my editor) is that Midnight Never Come will be out in June of next year.

To you all, that’s nearly a year away. To me, that’s just around the corner. It’s amazing how an entire year can telescope down to nothingness when someone lays out for you just what needs to happen when to get that more distant event to occur on time.

Can’t wait! I hope the time passes as slowly as you need it to. I certainly understand the looming and imposing nature of publication deadlines. I’ll just break out the pom poms until then. *o/*

Yeah, the conversation yesterday featured a great deal of math working backward from June: if it’s coming out then, my editor wants galleys in January, which means sending it to CE by November, which means revisions gone before the end of October, which means . . . and so on.

Oh yeah, don’t I know that story. Send to printer date is first week of October, which means pagination date is…which means copyedit has to be done by…and so on.

        Anyway, good luck with yours!

How exciting! When do they start work on the cover art? Do they wait for you to finish it?

    • Marie Brennan

The art department has already been set to work, but I don’t know when we’ll be seeing concepts/prelim art/final versions.

Well, I know what I will be pre-ordering for my birthday present to myself next year, then.

Heee! I’m totally looking forward to this! Even though I haven’t read your second book yet. I will! I promise! Once I get through this gigantic stack of required reading, I will! 🙂

    • Marie Brennan

Oh, I wouldn’t know anything about gigantic stacks of required reading. <carefully doesn’t look at today’s backpack with nine more research books in it>
