Ladies and gentlemen, I have a job for next spring!

I will be teaching “Writing Speculative Fiction” as a Collins course. And I’m giddy about the prospect.

A million thanks to everyone who contributed suggestions for the reading list a few months back. I’ll post a finalized version of that list when I teach the course; between now and then it might get tweaked a bit.

And now, knowing that I have a year of employment secured, I can relax and start breathing again.

Is it open to disillusioned grad students?

    • Marie Brennan

I’m not sure. I know that any undergrad can sign up for a Collins course, but I’m not sure about graduate students. It will be listed as a 200-level course, so it might be that you could register, but you wouldn’t get grad credit.

I’m not terribly concerned with grad credit and all that. But I don’t want to boot out Collins undergrads and the like, so I will wait and see. At the very least I might be able to audit or something. *shrug*

        Congratulations, by the way.

        • Marie Brennan

Auditing probably won’t work, I’m afraid, since class is organized in a workshop format. But you might be able to enroll.

Congratulations. Slightly worried about your teaching given the icon 😛

    • Marie Brennan

<lol> Well, see, my fall course is on fairy tales, and in trying to decide what icon to use for teaching-related posts, my eye fell on Maleficent. Who looks a little bit like she’s lecturing. And she’s in a fairy-tale movie. So it seemed appropriate . . . and really, the fact that it’s also a little ominous was just icing.
