What’s this? Two blog posts from me in a single day? Unpossible!

But in what I will claim is a display of genius timing (I’m lying; it is pure coincidence), not only do I have a new Writer’s Little Book out today — The Writer’s Little Book of Readings, chock-full of advice for reading fiction, prose, or even academic work and speeches to an audience — but three more in that series are up for pre-order! In October, November, and December, I’ll be turning my attention to certain topics of poetry, to wit: The Writer’s Little Book of Meter, The Writer’s Little Book of Rhyme, and The Writer’s Little Book of Forms (i.e. poetic forms like sonnets or haiku). They’re all just 99 cents, little novelette-sized ebooks talking not just about things like what the different metrical feet or types of rhyme are, but how to go about drafting poems that use them.

And, of course, there are three other books in the series out already! The Writer’s Little Book of Naming (what it says on the tin), The Writer’s Little Book of Platitudes (evaluating the good, the bad, and the adaptable of standard writing advice), and The Writer’s Little Book of Research (how to go about finding information for your stories). There will be more to come; I have like seven more ideas already, so this series will be going on for a while.
