Special edition day!

The Kickstarter for Wraithmarked’s deluxe illustrated edition of the Memoirs of Lady Trent is live as of this morning! I can’t actually tell you how fast it funded because that literally happened before I even woke up; all I know is that in the first four hours, it nearly QUINTUPLED its goal. These people know how to run a Kickstarter, y’all, and they have a large base of dedicated followers. I have absolute faith that what they produce is going to be gorgeous.

(And a reminder: if you’re interested in getting the whole series + all three short stories, you’re best served by backing this omnibus now, and the second one when that Kickstarter campaign happens. Obtaining copies later on is likely to be harder and more expensive.)

Also, I’m doing an AMA on the Clarion West Discord server today! Not posting a link because they asked it not be sprayed all over social media, but if you’re on that server, do stop by!

I signed up to your newsletter precisely for the chance to be warned early if a new hardcover edition of one of my favourite series of all time would be released. To know it’s not only hardcover, it’s an actual deluxe edition with new illustration is incredibly exciting. What a treat! Can’t wait to have it! 😀

Wonderful! I hope you stick around even now that you’ve received the news you were hoping for!

    Dear Marie,

Almost certainly there is a better place to ask this, so please do let me know what that is. The Kickstarter has the option to back both volumes in one go for a discount, but the add-ons only have the prints for the Todd Lockwood covers of the first three books. Does that mean there won’t be prints for the latter two books?

    Best,
    Anurag

Hmmm, I actually don’t know! I assume there will be prints, but you’re right that it’s an odd setup if you’re trying to back for both at once. I’d suggest asking on the Kickstarter page — there’s a FAQ and a place for comments, and I believe they’ll get back to you fairly rapidly if you post there.

        Thanks! I’ve asked.

Just in case someone was confused by my comment, I’ve received a clarification. There is no option to back both volumes in one go! I misunderstood what the all-in bundle included… Sorry to anyone I spread the confusion to!

Ah, thank you! Just this afternoon I was looking at the page and wondering where that option was hiding . . .

Congratulations on passing the point {minimum needed sales} with flying colors – fae and elven both.

May the success continue onwards! Have great days and be well.

    Hello Marie,
I love these books so much! I didn’t realise you could back both volumes at once, I hope I’ll still be able to get the second instalment when it is announced.
Will the artwork throughout the books be included in the kickstarter edition? The Dragon Turtle is my favourite of these, and I’d love to see it in this book.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

You should be able to get the second one as well, yes! It can be hard to get the *first* one later, depending on how many copies have sold by then, but I don’t think that’ll effect volume 2. (Though if you’re just lamenting having chosen the wrong pledge this time around, you should be able to edit that before the campaign ends — or possibly even after? I’m not sure about that latter.)

Regarding the interior artwork, though, these omnibus editions have all-new illustrations by Jessica Taylor — only Todd’s covers are being reprinted, as the endpapers of the volumes, not his interior art. While some of Jessica’s pieces veer close to the subjects already drawn by Todd Lockwood, we did our best to aim for new material, so I don’t think there’s likely to be a new dragon turtle. Sorry about that!
