Introduction

News! Site Updates

(1/26/10) I now have both a release date and table of contents for Running with the Pack, the anthology containing "Comparison of Efficacy Rates for Seven Antipathetics as Employed Against Lycanthropes".

(1/11/10) First sale of the new year: "Comparison of Efficacy Rates for Seven Antipathetics as Employed Against Lycanthropes" (aka the Fake Werewolf Paper) to Ekaterina Sedia's upcoming anthology, Running with the Pack.

(12/11/09) In adding a banner for the Sirens Conference to the site, it occurs to me that I never made an announcement about that here. So, in brief: I will be one of three Guests of Honor (along with Terri Windling and Holly Black) at that conference next year, with the special theme of "faeries." For more details, check out the banner at the bottom of the left bar.

(12/9/09) Another twisted fairy-tale retelling to Shroud Magazine; this one's called "Footprints."

(12/8/09) Forgot to mention before: Weltbild in Germany will be publishing an omnibus edition of both doppelganger books, using Luebbe's translation.

(12/5/09) I will continue my unbroken streak of publications in the Clockwork Phoenix anthology series with "The Gospel of Nachash."

(11/6/09) Travel has made me late in a couple of updates: both "Tower in Moonlight" and "The Snow-White Heart" have been published in their respective magazines.

(2/3/10) Because of my disagreement with Amazon's business practices (a disagreement that goes above and beyond the current dispute with Macmillan, though that's the straw that broke the camel's back), I'm no longer using my site to drive traffic toward them. I have replaced the Amazon order links for my novels with a list of other vendors (including some in Canada and the UK), and will be removing the Amazon Associates links in my recommendations.

(1/15/10) I've created a page for interviews and linked all the old ones I can find, plus some advice for how to go about conducting an author interview.

(12/8/09) Thoughts on the division between genre fiction and literary fiction with genre elements: "The Literary Line."

(11/30/09) Owing to the recent debacle regarding Harlequin Horizons/DellArte Press, I've written up a primer to trade, self, and vanity publishing.

(9/23/09) If you're curious about my revision process, I've posted an explanation of my "miniscript" method to the Craft essays.

(9/14/09) A busy summer of writing has slowed down the updating of this site, but I've gone through now and added reviews to my short story pages.

(6/18/09) I've collected my monthly SF Novelists posts into the Craft and Philosophy sections of this site.
