London, 1625

A young man lies dead in a Coldharbour alley. Before his death, he uncovered secrets that could threaten the mortal world above and the faerie world below. Now, to find the murderer and protect both realms, Sir Michael Deven will need the help of a man with reason to hate the fae of the Onyx Court -- the victim's own brother.

About the story

Deeds of Men is a free novella that takes place between Midnight Never Come and In Ashes Lie. A murder mystery set at the end of James I's reign and the beginning of Charles I's -- 1621-1625 -- it's a kind of "DVD extra," my way of sharing with you some of the events that are otherwise offstage. You don't need to have read either novel for this story, but be warned that it does (unavoidably) contain some spoilers for Midnight.

You can download Deeds of Men in your choice of formats (PDF, ePub, or HTML), or order a bound copy via AnthologyBuilder. If you enjoy it, and would like to see more Swan Tower projects like this in the future, please consider making a small donation via PayPal (explanation here).
