Stories
I now have more than two dozen stories in print, and this is the place to find out about them. Some can be read for free online; others are in anthologies or print magazines. They're divided into a few broad categories, based mostly on setting:
- The Nine Lands is a secondary world that plays home to a number of my stories, scattered through different cultures of that world.
- The Onyx Court is a secret-history version of London, with a faerie court hidden beneath the city. It's primarily a novel series, but I'm also working on some short fiction in between the books.
- Retellings is not a setting, per se, but that seems the best term under which to group stories based on fairy tales, ballads, or other folkloric material.
- Other covers, as you might expect, everything else. My rule of thumb -- which I bent for the Onyx Court -- is that a setting needs three stories before it earns its own category, so there are a few in here that may some day leave this nest.
Each story has its own page, with a brief excerpt, information on where to find it, and often some other information, like why I wrote the story in the first place. I've also taken to mentioning what music I was listening to while writing, since I almost always have something running, and often it's something specific to the story in question.
